Résumé du livre

The informal story of a self-taught, life-long inventor. John D. Bennett was born in a farmhouse and educated in a one-room school. He assembled his first Model-T from discarded cars in the city dump at the age of 10 and invented farm equipment at a teenager. In spite of a limited education, he was able to get into Texas A&M, where he graduated as a mechanical engineer. He went on to spend several intensive years on the front line as a forward observer in the US 36th Division in North Africa and Europe during World war II. After the war he designed oil field equipment, receiving 65 patents as a research scientist. In his spare time he built aids for handicapped relatives and built two houses with energy efficient solar- and wind-power designs. He applied his exceptional understanding of physics and mechanics with gusto to all areas of life. This is the story of his inventions with his life interwoven.
