Résumé du livre
Tritium, largely in the form of tritiated water, is among the principal radionuclides released in atmospheric emissions and aqueous effluents of Ontario Hydro Nuclear Generating Stations. Following release, this tritiated water is distributed among the components of the ecosystem, including biota. Existing models of the metabolism and dosimetry of tritium focus on the dose received from tritiated water. However, recent studies indicated that the inclusion of the dose from organically bound tritium may significantly increase the total radiation dose resulting from chronic tritium exposure. This study was initiated to define the changes in activity of tissue water tritium and organically bound tritium in mice chronically exposed to tritiated water, tritiated diet or both.
