Consists of correspondence, mostly incoming to Kennedy; Kennedy's journals, including botanical notes of field trips between 1896 and 1917 and one notebook documenting his travels in Europe in 1903 and 1905; and manuscripts concerning his index of plants in the works of Shakespeare and literary references to plants in Francis Bacon's writing. Correspondents are mostly botanists, but also correspondence pertaining to personal business and family matters and Kennedy's activities and acquaintances such as Walter Deane and William G. Farlow, at Harvard.
