Between January and July 2007, at least 90 men, women, and children fleeing the armed conflict in Somalia were unlawfully rendered from Kenya to Somalia, and then on to Ethiopia. Manny were interrogated by US officials in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Others were brutally tortured by Ethiopian officials who accused them of terrorist links. A few--including a Canadian national and nine who assert Kenyan nationality--remain in detention, all but one without charge, to the present. The whereabouts of others--including several Somalis, Ethiopian Ogadenis, and Eritreans--are unknown.
