The Elrod Family of Warren County, Kentucky

Jeremias Elrod (1755-1841) and his three brothers immigrated to the United States from Holland, landing somewhere in the Carolinas. One brother went West, another to Pennsylvania, and two, Harmon and Michael, settled in Warren County, Kentucky. There is no record of Harmon Elrod's family. Michael Elrod (1786-1849) married Elizabeth Davis (1787-1868); they had 17 children. Thomas S. Elrod, one of their sons, built the Elrod Homestead in Flatrock, Kentucky, in 1874; he had married Mary A. Brown in March 1849. Many of the Elrod descendants remain in Warren County, but others have moved into Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, and elsewhere. By the 1970s, there were in the United States about 2650 heads of household having the surname Elrod.
