"Walton is one of the foremost English composers of the twentieth century. His works are in the standard international concert repertoire. Up till now, however, no full-length book has been devoted to a study of his music. This new book is designed to fill the gap. It includes a detailed descriptive analysis of all the more important works, together with general notes on Walton's style, a complete list of works, and a comprehensive discography compiled by F. F. Clough and G. J. Cuming. Material from Frank Howes's two earlier booklets on Walton in the Musical Pilgrim series has been incorporated, but this has been thoroughly revised and brought up to date."--Dust jacket.
