J.S. Hodges papers include forty bank notes and associated correspondence and three deposit slips for J.S. Hodges drawn against Watauga County Bank, Johnson County Bank and individual Watauga County citizens, arranged by loaner chronologically. Individuals are Ettie Dishman (1917), Ray Hagaman (1919), Smith Hagaman (1914), W.M. Isenhour (1919), W.M. Stout (1920), two from C.F. Thompson (1920), A.C. Trivette (1920), Ed S. Williams (1919), Ed Yarber (1920), two from P.C. Younce (1917, 1919). In 1995, these items were found hidden in a glass jar inside the wall of a house being demolished.
