Résumé du livre
Uses contemporary newspaper reports to examine popular reception of Buruce's 1902-04 Scottish National Antarctic Expedition, and shows how geographies of reporting and of reading engendered locally particular understandings. Considers influence of venues of collection, analysis and display on conception, communication and reception of Bruce's polar knowledge. Illustrates how these factors have affected ways in which and by whom Bruce has been remembered since his death.
