Résumé du livre
This is a retrospective collection of Andrew Anderson's linocuts, from his early college days to the present, a span of some 50 years. In his introduction, the artist points out that the planned order of cities is a creating force behind the development of civilization. In contrast, a vision "cannot be planned or prearranged....A vision of order is a vision of stability: of a pattern of undisturbed daily living where everything is in its right place." The linocuts are clearly architectural in design, but were inspired by many sources including passages from the Bible, imagined cities, love poems, well-known prayers, hymns and verses related to the Christian calendar, churches, Christmas cards, a poem by Charles Williams, and more.
