There was a moment, in 1985, when Ken Duncan was tempted down a road paved with gold. After a few years travelling hard through outback Australia, he had sold everything he had left and flew to New York to show his collection of panoramic images to the world-renowned Light Gallery. The exhibition on at the time was some of Robert Mapplethorpe's shock photography, which had the art community abuzz. Ken took in his images to show the gallery directors. He unfurled a large print of Kata Tjuta, taken at sunrise from atop one of the domes. "And everyone just went 'wow'.
