Résumé du livre

Offers a unique look at Robineau’s art with a special focus on her later artwork and innovative ceramic design now popular, twenty years after her death. This catalog documents the "Only an Artist" and acts as a second volume to the Everson’s 1981 exhibition and catalog, Adelaide Alsop Robineau, Glory in Porcelain, which has become a coveted mainstay for scholars of Robineau’s work and twentieth-century ceramics. With images of roughly a hundred works, Only an Artist offers a look at the famed Everson collection, as well as pieces from museums around the country, including the Detroit Institute of Arts; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Mint Museum of Art; Newark Museum of Art, Ohio State University; and Palmer Museum of Art, Pennsylvania State University. Curator Thomas Piché, Jr., brings to light the seldom-addressed last decade of the artist’s life, while other guest scholars offer an analysis of Robineau’s influence and legacy, including her role as an educator, and placing her work among historic ceramics and the international art movements of early twentieth-century design.
