Ferguson's memoir contains details of his U.S. Army training, military life, army buddies, conditions of war zones, etc. Notable descriptions include the invasion of Leyte, which was the first invasion of the Philippines and Ferguson's first enemy action, and the sinking of USS LST #749 at the invasion of Mindoro, Philippines (Sulu Sea), and conditions at the occupation of Japan at Yokohama.
