Résumé du livre
Truth Behold is a story based around facts regarding the horrific abuse that went on in the Industrial Schools and Magdalen Laundries in Ireland during the 1940s '50s and '60s. The main character, Jim, finds himself on the edge of a cliff attempting to take his own life due to his feeling of hopelessness but at the last moment, he hesitates to go through with his fatal intentions. His wife Peg, finds his suicide note and in her moment of horror reveals her story regarding the abuse she and her brother Sean Og suffered at the hands of the Religious Orders while in care. Jim is thankful to fate for giving him a second chance at living for little did he realise that the ghosts of times past would visit him over the coming year and get Peg and himself to confront the truth. Jim researches into the past-history and workings of these schools and the deeper he researches the more horrors he stumbles upon. He simply can't understand why so-called respectable people working in the name of Christ could act in such a satanic way. The scene is set in Ireland in a small village in County Kerry in the early 1970s. The novel reveals soul searching moments coupled with moments of anger, sorrow, happiness, joy and humour...
