Maps of a World invites us to enter a childhood specific to the narrator yet available, perhaps even familiar, to the reader. This is a journey through a place and time fraught with intense relationships and alive with vivid imagery. A place where we learn the rules only to find they don't always apply. Where curses are placed but soon regretted. Where monsters may hide in cabinet drawers but more often live right downstairs, smoking a pipe, playing with model trains, knotting a kerchief under a chin. Follow the paths marked here and find the danger spots, the safe havens, and the liminal spaces- a room beneath a willow, the roots of a cherry tree- where love and healing hide.
