Student's Atlas of American Presidential Elections 1789-1996 tells the story, graphically and in writing, of each of the 53 presidential elections in the history of the United States, in chronological order. In doing so, noted historian Fred L. Israel also examines the social, economic, and political development of the United States. Each election is presented as a snapshot of the times, from the very first election through the Civil War and two World Wars to the present.
