Résumé du livre
A biography of Crémieux, stressing his merits as a lawyer and statesman. Outlines his constant struggle for the implementation of religious equality, as a complement to legal equality, in 19th century France. Crémieux was instrumental in abolishing the humiliating "More Judaico" oath and in denouncing the Damascus blood libel (1840). He founded the Alliance Israélite Universelle and achieved the naturalization of Algerian Jews as French citizens through the law bearing his name.
