Résumé du livre
An account of the life of Youra Riskine (b. 1928, Paris) as related by his friend, Alain Sené, in his diary. Describes their school years at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand during the war, and the restrictions on French Jewry. Sene witnessed the roundup of Jews in Paris, and relates efforts by classmates to protest against antisemitism. Riskine's father was deported to Compiègne in September 1942, and later to Drancy, after which he disappeared. Youra was offered shelter with Sene's grandparents in the countryside, but before he could escape, in April 1943, he and his mother Faina (Chilkovsky) were denounced to the French police. They were deported to Drancy, and gassed upon arrival at Auschwitz.
