Elias Wilder, son of Aaron and Priscilla Clark Wilder, was born 1765 at Killingly, Connecticut, married in 1791 in Massachusetts, farmed and started his family near Stowe, Vermont. He migrated in 1808 to Ontario Co., N.Y. and thence to Ashtabula Co., Ohio. His sons settled in Ogle Co., Illinois and from there their descendants disseminated throughout western United States, Canada and Australia. The early ancestor, Thomas Wilder of Shiplake (d. 1634), married Martha Higgs?, who died 1652 at Hingham, Massachusetts.
