The United States Navy assigned a class of ships the letters DD (Designation Destroyer). In this book Glenn M. Hardin tells us the DD also refers to a Distinguished Destroyer-the USS O'Bannon. He writes a history of the ship, not just of the amazing things the ship and crew did in WWII, which was well known then, but a whole history. This is a history that takes us from 1776 to 2005.
