Résumé du livre

Charles Sumner writes Garrison an account of the failed repeal of the Fugitive Slave Acts. Sumner states that the bill's passage was interfered with by Senator John Sherman, whose objections to the repeal of the 1793 Act lead to the bill's failure, an effort which included the support (for Sherman's amendment) by ten Republicans. Sumner opines that this could not have occurred had not the Anti-Slavery Sentinel "become so sluggish", and beseeches Garrison's help in reviving the repeal bill.
