Résumé du livre
The political and financial interests who benefit from the media's over-emphasis on startups tend to reap non-market rent-seeking rewards from their public relations efforts. When policy attention is focused exclusively on startups, rather than on the broader concept of how citizens in the region benefit from an innovation economy, citizens who are not a part of the closed startup/exit matrix are left without a choice about how they can benefit from participation in a more beneficial economic system.Interestingly, the connection between technology innovation and regional economic prosperity is not through government incentives or political manipulation directed to promoting more exit events. It is through a reliance on individual initiative and maximum individual opportunity to pursue self-interest, which is one possible outcome of the evolution of technology in a regional innovation system.
