Field notes Vol. 354A documents botanical collecting by William Campbell Steere in 1952 and 1954 in Baja California (Mexico), California, and Arizona. It is comprised of a list of specimen numbers 17501-17743, collected March 24-April 6, 1952 in Mexico and in California near San Diego; and April 1-8, 1954 in Mexico, California, and Arizona. Entries have plant name, collection location and date, and some have brief descriptions of plant and habitat. A pocket contains a typewritten page of specimen determinations with a handwritten note to Steere from Howard [no last name given, probably Howard Crum]; and a reprint of an article by Steere and Howard Crum with title: Some bryophytes from Baja California, published in The Southwestern naturalist, Vol. 3 (1958), pages 114-123. An accompanying volume, Field notes Vol. 354B, contains Steere's diary entries for the 1952 expedition.
