A large volume focusing on the site of Khirbet es-Samra, located north-east of Amman in Jordan. The notable feature of this site is its Aramaic Christo-Palestinian inscriptions whose study provides a unique opportunity to study the origins and date of this language. This volume looks at the background to the site and the history of research, the Roman road and corpus of inscriptions erected as boundary markers, the history of the cemetery at Samra and its funerary stelae, the Greek, Latin and Semitic inscriptions from the site and a final synthesis of the site and its environs in the Early Islamic period.
