Résumé du livre
"Julia, my wife, and I were amazed at the number of horses we saw in New York City in 1947. It surprised us to see teams of horses pulling delivery wagons on the city streets. Out of town peddlers gathered under the bridges to enter the city at the crack of dawn. They waited for the police to stop the motorized traffic and allowed them to safely cross the bridge. In the city the peddlers parked their rigs curbside and sold their wares. The horses stood patiently and unflinching as the automobiles and trucks sped by."--Introduction sheet.
