Enclosed within the book is Lieutenant Phineas Atherton's copy of a petition to Whitehall on behalf of himself regarding remuneration for misfortunes during his military service for the British. Included within the letter are the sworn statements by Major Robert Rogers, General John Burgoyne, Captain George Preston Vallancey, Captain Philip Skene, Lieutenant Colonel John Wilkins, and Colonel Robert Kingston. The petition was submitted while Atherton was imprisoned in Mashalsea prison in London for indebtedness, his petition was rejected.
