Résumé du livre
The majority of the letters in this collection were exchanged between James Hope and his wife, Julia, between 1853 and 1872. During the winter Hope lieve in New York City to maintain his art studio while his wife remained in their Castleton, Vt., home. A smaller series of family letters includes Hope's letters to his children, the children's letters to each other, and to their mother between 1864 and the 1880s. Later letters in this series are those of Hope's grandchildren; the most recent of these is 1919.
