Charles Henry Randall Letters to His Parents

Written from the ship Samoset on his way to California and from San Francisco, Sacramento, Montezuma Flats, etc. They describe his voyage around the Horn and his experiences mining, operating a ferry across the American River, and selling goods in the mines, with comments on living conditions, cost of goods, etc. Also includes two letters, 1850 and 1862, written by his brother James, who came to California in 1850.
