Gender, Literacy and the Classroom

This book investigates how the power of gendered language practices in the literacy classroom affects girls and boys in their reading and writing development. It discusses two recent reading schemes to show that gender bias is still a dominant feature of the literacy curriculum even in books published specifically for classroom use.
