Never offered my services since the war to anybody to fight anything & have never publicly or privately expressed any desire or wish to go to Cuba, & believe very much as you do, that the Government of the U.S. had better begin at home & get the beam out of its own eye, before making such a display of 'virtuous indignation' at what is happenening elsewhere."
