Résumé du livre

The characteristics of fast-drift bursts are reviewed. It is noted that the observed increase of burst duration toward lower frequencies is consistent with collisional damping of electron oscillations. The average duration of bursts at 25 mc indicates a negative temperature gradient in the corona ab ve the 100 mc level. The results of past studies of the association betwe n flares and fast-drift bursts are summarized. The importance of using stan ardized flare patrol data is emphasized. Observational evidence for solar corpuscular emission is revie ed. Complex disk surges are defined and their usefulness for probing the small scale structure of solar magnetic fields is noted. A discussion is given of possible sources of plasma instabilities in the corona, and the theory of the instability of interacting beams is developed. A possible test for the suggested high energy density of type III burst-streams is proposed in connection wit bursts of bremsstrahlung radiation observed in the auroral zone. (Author).
