Daniel Shuey, of French Huguenot lineage, and his son Ludwig, immigrated in 1732 from the Palatinate of Germany via Rotterdam to Philadelphia. The surname was spelled Schew in one source, and Schuhl in another. They settled in Bethel Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and elsewhere.
