Abbas was one of the very few photographers who were able to take pictures before, during, and after the 1974 fight that saw Muhammad Ali defeat George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaire. It was a fight that is still considered by many as the fight of the century.

In the early days of Abbas' career, these mythical pictures, together with Abbas' written memories of that time, can also be seen as the birth of a vocation.
