Inventories some 8,000 historically important collected editions of music, including numbered monumental sets and composers' collected editions, as well as musicologically significant publishers' series and anthologies. The compilers have paid particular attention to series and sets published in eastern Europe; to all editions of the German and Austrian Denkmaler series; and to significant practical editions such as Das Chorwerk, Hortus musicus, and Diletto musicale. Cross-references from individual series volumes and numbers, and from names of editors have been provided, along with standard reference numbers for all editions--to be used in the forthcoming CD-ROM indexes.
