Through critical discussion of works by Lawrence, James, and Gibran, and critiques of Marx, Freud, Jung, and McLuhan, the author articulates and refines his metacritical assumptions. He argues that it is ultimately necessary to hold values and beliefs that are not susceptible to scientific proof or disproof.
