Résumé du livre

Charles Malachi "Mike" Moore was born in Indian Territory, when the U.S. government was feverishly trying to determine who was and who was not a member of the Five Civilized Tribes and how to end tribal rule in what was to become southern and eastern Oklahoma. After Oklahoma's statehood, Moore's family left the old Chickasaw reservation and moved north to bustling new Oklahoma City. There he met the love of his life, Oma Marie Chester. They were married for more than 40 years before he died from cancer in 1966. Mike and Marie experienced America as ordinary people struggling with extraordinary events such as the Great Depression, World War II, and the explosive growth of Mike's favorite city--Houston, TX, where he socialized with the city's high rollers and built many of their showcase homes in the River Oaks and West University neighborhoods.
