The holding comprises papers concerning the making of a cabinet for the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour, of which Edward John Gregory (1850-1909) was President from 1898. The papers, from 1903, contain correspondence between Mr. Gregory and his secretary, Mr. Blackmore, and between Mr. Blackmore and Hampton & Sons, the firm commissioned to carry out the work. There are also two designs by Mr. Gregory of the proposed cabinet.
