This training course provides a basic introduction to the C# syntax and Visual Studio for Mac IDE, in project-based lessons that help you create re-usable code libraries, and then use them to build command-line and desktop applications. Instructor Bruce Van Horn shows how to install Visual Studio for Mac and introduces the core elements of C#-classes, variables, methods, namespace, auto properties, encapsulation, and constructors-while building a reusable class library. He imports the library into a .NET Core command-line app, and then shows how to use arrays, lists, loops, and random numbers to enhance the application. In the final chapter, Bruce uses the same library to build a native macOS desktop app, creating a UI with the Xcode Interface Builder and wiring event handlers from the UI to classes in the library. Each project builds on the last, resulting in a fun and user-friendly Dungeons and Dragons-style character generator.
