Were it not for the last words of a dying man to his eldest son, the body of a man in a grey suit would not have been discovered in a lay-by near the city of Bristol. Even when it was, there was nothing to suggest that the ensuing investigation would be anything other than routine, but the initial pathologist's report soon put paid to that assumption. The cause of death is clear, but very little else about the man in the grey suit is, and the investigation to determine his identity and that of his killer unearths duplicity, intrigue and a dark secret in a side street of Bristol, before it comes to a climax one evening, over a hundred miles away, in London.
