Résumé du livre

General description of the collection: The Robert H. Jones papers contains a Korean War Veterans Survey questionnaire and his memoir, both of which describe his experience as a soldier in the United States (U.S.) Army, reproductions of photographs and a photocopy of a propaganda pamphlet. He had an overall good opinion of the U.S. Army and his role in Korea. Jones has some strong opinions of the military leadership and is of the opinion that certain types of people should not be integrated into the military. He also recalls that African American officers were not very well trained, but that he did get along with African Americans. Jones compares his experience on the ship to Korea to that of a slave ship coming from Africa. He notes that the North Korean and Chinese forces were poorly trained in all but forward observation. Jones' memoir goes into extenive detail about his time in Korea. The photographs reveal some of his experiences in Korea, as well as his welcome home. The propaganda pamphlet is one Jones picked up on the Main Line of Resistance (MLR) in the Spring of 1953, requesting safe treatment for the Chinese.
