Chester Carlson was inventor of xerography and a major Rochester philanthropist. The collection is comprised of over 1700 images that depict the lives of Chester and Dorris Carlson, his wife, beginning with their early childhood, including their extended families, and continuing through adolescence and young adulthood. The images also reflect their lives together as husband and wife and Dorris' life after the death of Chester in 1968. Also included are bound paperbacks of copied newspaper and journal articles on the life of Chester Carlson and his invention of the Xerox machine.
