This collection contains a notebook kept by Edward "Eddie" J. Forsaith of Amesbury, Mass., from 1887 to 1888. Forsaith divided the notebook between his personal accounts and diary. His expenses include purchasing photographs, paper, cough drops, stamps, shoes, oil, coconuts, nails, and screws, and paying for a haircut and library fees. His income derived mainly from performing work for local people writes extensively about this work, especially for the Electric Light Co. This includes trimming the light, turning on street lights at night at different times, installing lights and electric doorbells, working on switch boards, and wiring lightning arresters. He references needing to bring electric lights down to a pond where two boys drowned and also giving a photograph to a woman named Millie.
