An analysis of letters Eugene O'Neill wrote to George Jean Nathan. An appendix (pages 28-35) provides a detailed list of the letters. A blank space on page 28 suggests that at the time when this draft was typed, Highsmith had not yet received permission from O'Neill's widow (represented by the curator of the American literature collection at the Beinecke Library, Yale University) to quote from the letters.
