Many of the political struggles and intrigues of medieval Germany were reflected and interpreted, perhaps wildly, in contemporary historiography and theatrical drama. This specialised and heavily annotated thesis focuses on the 10th to 12th centuries, investigating the ways in which real events were adapted for literature as well as discussing the evolution of political writing as a genre.
