The Belly of Naples

The belly of Naples embraced me in the November 2024 when I visited the city for an exhibition of mine organized by the photographer artist Yvonne de Rosa at the Magazzini Fotografici. How grateful I am to her for such an opportunity to wander the streets of this ancient city rediscovering its complicated order of chaos. It is the most human of places: alive, tragic, while comic and hopeful. All the remnants of its great layered civilizations are present in the streets, alongside of its entrepreneurial residents. All of its history is revealed on its surfaces, there to be seen and transformed by the camera into my memento mori.
