Résumé du livre
At only fifteen, Jas has been thrust into a war zone. An enemy of mechanical soldiers is barring down from every direction. His people are out-matched and out-gunned. The danger and fear are as real as his own two hands clutching his rifle.
Only after marching forward to face his death does he awaken.
The flashback ends as Jas is returned to that castle on the hill, safe in a warm bed. He remembers that he's agreed to undergo a magical treatment for the trauma and amnesia he still carries from a past war. The rest of his memories have vanished. All he knows is that the young woman carrying out the procedure has eyes that are faintly familiar, and the intelligent machine that won't leave his side claims they were once close friends.
In the coming weeks Jas will be forced to once again return to his broken past in order to ultimately heal from it. And perhaps his recovery is more important to the fate of others than he realizes.
Philip Prendergast drew influence from books such as The Chronicles of Narnia series, The Giver, and The Light in the Piazza, as well as movies such as the Star Wars saga.
