Résumé du livre

"Although recently reviewed (Rall et al., in press; Robbins & Rall 1960; Edelhoch & Rall 1964) iodoproteins in the thyroid appear now to be receiving enough attention to warrant a discussion of certain special methods applicable to their study. Thyroidal iodoproteins possess in iodine a unique marker which may be used as such or may be given a radioactive label. In the latter event, physiological parameters such as rates of synthesis and degradation or path in synthetic sequence may be relatively easily measured. On the other hand, the size of some of these proteins (thyroglobulin and the 27S iodoprotein) makes amino acid sequence studies, or any chemical information about the molecule, difficult to achieve. Before a discussion of specific methods, it seems worthwhile to review some of the more recent information on the structure of thyroglobulin"--Introduction.
