Résumé du livre
"Methods: A total of 80 extracted mature, patent human maxillary and mandibular canine teeth with straight roots were selected. The teeth were randomly divided into four groups (n = 20) and standardized to 18 mm in working length (WL). Groups 1 & 2 were instrumented with a STP of 40.06, and Groups 3 & 4 were instrumented with a previously researched VTP. Using the manufacturer's directions, Groups 1 & 2 were obturated using GC and EC, respectively. Using an experimental obturation protocol, Groups 3 &4 were obturated using GC and EC, respectively. The experimental obturation protocol used the actual WL for the obturator measurement as opposed to the calibration rings which used measurements longer than true lengths as indicated in the directions for use. The WL for all teeth were standardized to a length of 18.0 mm, allowing an insertion rate of 6 mm/sec when obturators were seated within the canal over 3 seconds. The length of fill and quality of obturation were assessed clinically using a dental operating microscope and radiographicaly by two blinded evaluators. Data was assessed ordinally as follows: (1) Clinically Acceptable: WL ± 1.0 mm, (2) Overextension: > 10 mm beyond WL, and (3) Underextension:
