The historic Shubenacadie canal was built in the 19th century to link the Bay of Fundy with the Halifax Harbour. The canal was cut along an ancient Mi'kmaq and Acadian canoe route. A series of locks and deep-cut channels were developed but financial difficulties plagued the canal project. This is the enthralling story of the building, as well as a loving glimpse at the picturesque waterway today.
