Jan (Jodan) Bruse (b.1805) married Brita Olsdotter in 1824 and lived at Nås, Kopparberg, Sweden. Three of his sons, Nils Wilhelm Bruce (1841-1906), Per Gustav Bruce (1844-1896), and Alfred Bruce (1849- 1922), immigrated from Sweden to the United States, the first two to Michigan and the third to Wisconsin. Descendants lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Colorado and elsewhere. Includes ancestors to 1704 in the parishes of Nås, Säfsnäs, Vika and elsewhere in Kopparberg County, Sweden.
