Résumé du livre
When one considers the concept of creativity, or related words such as imagination, intuition, and playfulness, often the emotional content supersedes that of the physical realm and begins to engage the spiritual. Based on personal experience, I believe there to be a fusion between the creative and spiritual realms. In addition, it seems that the creative process has implications through artistic venues, such as painting, that relate to the definition of creating. Within the act of painting, specifically the concepts of overlapping, layers, and collage begin to influence the creative process both consciously and subconsciously. These primary elements of painting within the creative process are integral in the development of an architecture that addresses the need for merging and collaging of ideas. I have chosen to focus my attention on the application of these qualities to the design of a youth center that will serve my church, the neighboring schools, and community. The appropriateness of collage and layers is heightened by the emphasis placed on serving the adolescents and teenagers within this context, particularly with the merging of youth from various areas of interest. My design intentions are to activate the church, schools, and community as parts by realizing the potential of the whole through the collaging of youth.
